D & J get a mini VACA

We were fortunate enough to get to fly to Billings, MT to attend the sealing of Daniel's brother Eric to his sweet wife, Cyntia and their kids this weekend. We've really been looking forward to it since they returned from Honduras in October. We're glad we were invited and that Alligiant Air has awesome fares that just so happened to be on Thursday and Sunday! :)
It also just happened to be my old home stakes' Temple day so we ran into lots of people we knew. It's always fun to do that, especially when they aren't expecting to see you so far away from home. Here's all who were in attendence. And below is the ceremonial passing of the clock, pictured chronologically in order of receipt. Cheryl would be between John and Daniel.
Dad was able to come up and join in the festivities with us. Jared made friends fast with him at lunch and it resulted in an arm wrestling dual.
After lunch I hung out with the "mighty hunter" himself, a few weeks prior he had taken his bow up to be restrung, so we went to pick it up and have a new peep put on. Yes, I learned a little about modern archery.
The morning we were to leave... Daniel woke up not feeling well AT ALL! (I was lucky to have time to get in the shower if ya know what I mean) Turns out he and Mirian and Trish all ate something "not so good" at lunch. Luckily he got it all out and we made a run for the airport. We have the best of luck and got stuck with about the last seating session both ways, however on the way back the plane wan't totally full like it was going up... so Daniel and I both ended up with a full row (and a window) all to ourselves. I have to say, I had the best side of the plane, not that it mattered. Daniel drugged himself up and slept almost the whole flight anyway. But I got this picture of the Temple...
And this one of Hoover Dam and the new bridge...

A cake for Chelsi & Jordan

Top: Actual Cake                                                 Bottom: Inspiration
Thank goodness I had to go to SLC yesterday for a business meeing so I was able to stop at Orson Gygi and get some ivory gel. Chelsi wanted lemon... and in my pregnant state I called Curtis Bakery and had them bake the 12' bottom layer. Then today I made a lemon butter cream filling. It's a basic buttercream that I use butter flavored shortening and add lemonade concentrate. It was SO yummy. Sure hope it tasted good with the cake! :) I also picked up a stensil to try my luck at some sort of design like the inspiration cake. It was surprisingly easy. You just stick it to the fondant with a little water and spread royal icing over it. Viola!
Disclaimer: This is also the last cake I will be making while pregnant or for awhile thereafter. If you need my friend Amy's # just give me a call... I will happily refer you to her.

Happy Birthdays!

Daniel got to spend the whole morning of his birthday at Pow Wow with his scout troop. He loves his scouts and doesn't like his birthdays so it was JUST what he wanted! (I could think of a MILLION other things I'D rather do) :)
Then he and Michael came home and made their survival bracelets becuase so many kids at school want to buy one from Michael. (2/4/2011) Michael made $114 this week selling them at school for $3 a piece. Then they went down to one of the local outdoor stores today to try and find some black cord and they had them and were selling them for $12!! So now I think they might just go try and sell them to that store.
Later Daniel decided to celebrate a little bit and so we went to Cold Stone for icecream!
Then on Sunday Julie and her new boyfriend, Bret, and Colleen came out for tacos and cake and ice cream... this is the hilarious picture I captured of Julie when I told her to "suck it in"! haha!
Funfetti cupcakes for Julie and strawberry shortcake for Daniel!
Harmons has the best angel food cake and Costco had big boxes of strawberries for $4.99!!
I'm playing my pregnancy card and didn't make a big cake. :)
Happy Birthday Daniel and Julie!!

blast from the past

When Jen and Ju went home for Christmas this year they raided Mom and Dad's attic and came home with ALL sorts of memorabilia from growing up at 820. These Care Bear pajamas were Jennifer's and I can still TOTALLY picture her running around in them, they must have been her favorite. So here's Mya style'n them now.

Happy Valentines!

Haleigh always takes great pride in her Valentine's day box for school! She comes up with some pretty cute ideas and we go with it. This year was a giant Chocolate Kiss!

I'm gonna be a big sister!!

Here's Mya posing with the pictures from the "baby movie" we got to see today. At one point she said, "oh, it's a monster!"
Here's HER profile... And here's the PROOF!

Condolences can be sent to Michael via comments on this post, our email, or our home address.

Michael's 1st Klondike!

Michael and ALL his "stuff". It takes alot for a desert rat to stay warm in the snow!

Michael the Cave Man!
This may have been Michael's first klondike, but it certainly wasn't Daniel's first rodeo! This was #5 for him. He's come a long way... now he has a door with a window so he can see out whenever he wants! They lined the fire pit with emergency blankets to reflect the heat back at themselves. It also pre-heated the inside of the leaders cave!
