Baby, it's cold outside!

We have this swimming pool that we filled with sand back in June... and then it rained and rained and filled all the way up with water... then Michael and Haleigh scooped most of the excess water out but still some remained... and then it got COLD and FROZE! Mya thought it was cool to walk on water!

Merry Christmas 2010

Although Mya was professing to not like Christmas nor did she want any presents... it didn't take her long to get in the swing of things and get all excited!

100 year flood, again...

It's been raining for a week straight. Our grass is green and we have weeds and moss growing out by our mail box. I was just about to get depressed from lack of vitamin D when all of a sudden it started to get exciting yesterday. They call it the 100 year flood around here when it floods like this. However, this is the 2nd time in 5 years that it's happened... so go figure. This is the view yesterday of the Virgin River flooding, looking East from the I-15 bridge going into town from our house: And this is the same view today:
This is the Santa Clara river today looking East where it joins the Virgin. There's a new pillar there for a new exit and bridge they've been working on for months... I bet this sets them back a little. Needless to say, they had the day off.
Here's the Santa Clara looking West from I-15:
This is the Virgin River over in Bloomington, next to the baseball park:
This is the running trail that goes along the river and under Man-O-War bridge in Bloomington.
The trail system in St. George is very popular, but most of the trails follow the river or other washes throughout town. So they are all closed until the flooding is over.

Jessica & Rodney's cake

Our friends' daughter is getting married tomorrow. So it's late and I just finished the cake. Her aunt was going to make it... but I saw how stressed that makes the aunt at the last wedding which was I think less than 6 months ago... and family should be there to enjoy the day and visit etc. So I told Kaatje (the MOB) that I would be more than happy to make the cake. So she finally agreed to let me, and this was a fun one to do. I got to get some pearl molds (which I let my friend Amy try first! :) So I'd know how they work!) on this cake:
Some day Amy and I will have a bakery where we will have people who bake and do all the grunt work and we will decorate!! :)
So anyway, I got to use some new methods and even though I've got a little case of the "bah-humbugs" right now it was really fun to do this cake. I hope they love it when we deliver it tomorrow! It took me from 4pm til 11pm, only the bottom is real and I put a little orange extract in the chocolate buttercream frosting... IT IS SO YUMMY!!

Christmas time is here!

The kids played their violins at the Dicken's festival this evening. Mya was SO excited that Christmas was EVERYWHERE there! "Look Mom, Christmas!"
She did not however like the idea of visiting Santa Clause. "No, I don't like him." and as we got closer in line... "Let's go home mom!" She survived and got her candy and even waved "bye-bye" to the Jolly Old Elf.

Thanksgiving

Grandma and Grandpa Frahm came down for Thanksgiving! Jen and Ju and I and Mom all made the dinner... we should have invited more people... we've had left overs for days and days... 2 turkeys and a ham is way too much for 10 people!! We ate over at Jen's house and hung out at our house most of the time. Black Friday was crazy again as usual, but still fun to go out and witness it all. Our "stashing" technique didn't work at either Target or Wal-mart... don't they know we're doing THEM a favor? Geez. We'll have to improve on it next year.

I'm waiting for pictures from Dad and or Jen... hint-hint.
